Cheryl's Story
“The key that opened the prison doors for me was the uncompromising truth of the word of God...”
I came here almost 9 years ago, destitute and desperate, led by God but driven by deep needs and desires that I couldn’t satisfy. I had a pain that no drug could ease – I was completely imprisoned and held by my life’s negative experiences with no idea of what true freedom and liberty was like. How do you find your way out of those places? For me it was in obedience to the leading of the Lord, although I didn’t know it was Him that was leading me at the time. I didn’t really understand how, but he led me to this place known as Breakthrough Worship Centre where I was exposed to the truth and reality of Christ’s love for me.
The key that opened the prison doors for me was the uncompromising truth of the word of God - this is a vital part of the nature and character of Breakthrough Worship Centre. It was the atmosphere of love here, the consistent, constant love that never fails, drew me like a magnet out of my prison into freedom & liberty.
Do I love being a part of Breakthrough Worship Centre? More than I can express.
Does Breakthrough Worship Centre mean everything to me? No, but it was here that I was empowered to meet my everything – my Saviour Jesus Christ.
Priscilla's Story
“Thank you Lord for being in my life, day-in and day-out. My prayer is that the Lord uses me to be a blessing and a positive Christian role model to other people.”
My name is Priscilla and I’m 23 years old. I am one of five children and the youngest also to a twin sister. I’ve been attending Breakthrough Worship Centre for about 8 years now, and this is my story since I’ve been here.
My family and I moved to Ballarat from Newcastle NSW in the year 2001. Breakthrough Worship Centre (then called Christian Life Church) was the first church I attended with my family. I remember the first time I stepped into the church, just feeling the warmth, friendly and welcoming atmosphere of a close family in Christ. I was 16 years old then, but I knew at that moment, as I know now that the Lord was going to use me, one way or the other in this church.
Growing up in a Christian home and environment, the Lord had already started building the foundation in my life (thanks to my parents). By the age of 17 I started having the desire to know the Lord for myself, to walk in the part He has planned for me (as an individual) and not through my parents Christian walk. So my prayer was that the Lord should allow me to see, to hear and to experience His wonders for myself.
At this stage of my Christian walk, I thank the Lord for answering my prayers. I give Him the glory and the honour for giving me the extra confidence to stand in His presence and in the presence of His children to minister, and praise and worship Him in the music team.
Psalms 27:14 says ‘Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord’. This verse is a true testimony of the kind of relationship that I have with my Lord. I believe in praying and waiting on the Lord and just at the right time he delivers you with what your heart desires.
Thank you Lord for being in my life, day-in and day-out. My prayer is that the Lord uses me to be a blessing and a positive Christian role model to other people.
